Jenufa à l'Opéra, une belle réussite - Rennes
mardi 08 novembre 2011

Wexford Festival Opera- Smetana's Hubička/The Kiss/

Eliška Weissová was a sympathetic Martinka and displayed her fruity voice to effect

Critigue - Il Trovatore (G. Verdi) -State Theatre Kosice
Life´s credo of Azucena: “mi vendica” (take a revenge for me) makes from her non-autonomous but at the same time the only emancipated person of the whole opera. She knows exactly what is her life´s mission and she also determines the fate of the others. E. Weissova excellently expressed various psychological emotions by her voice and dramatic art. From the wild passion via mothers love to sleepy, forgiving and insane leaving of her life. She was right to avoid the singing from reason and interpreted the character spontaneously and impulsively.

The Mahler’s Earth song on Dvorak autumn festival in Karlovy Vary
Promotors of this event have choosed for the most dificult part two young singers Eliska Weiss and Josef Zednik. In both cases it was a great choice and great selection.
Especially in Eliska Weissova case, her fully balanced, superbly coloured and velvety mezzosoprano was shining in each scene and even in the final part of this extremly song was briliant. It was a very matue and impresive performance.

Augsburg open air Aida/Amneris
Eliska Weiss as a  Amneris fully filled up all corners of this role with her evenly conducted mezzosoprano and even her sufer for Radames was authentic. With Amneris like this it would be easily posible to rename the opera Aida to Amneris.

L.Janacek Jenufa/Kostelnicka
Between the hosts, who are frequently on the profesional scene, Eliska Weissova had presented her Mrs. Kniplova resemblance, with her large, coloured and firm voice.

In direction of Linda Keprtova, who masterfully redone whole version 1904, one of the bigest suprise was Elisk Weissova, who has a bright future front of her. With her rich and reasonable sharp mezzosoprano as well as her actors performance, even in non singing parts, was a briliant Kostelnicka with love to death.
